Preventing diabetes with healthy lifestyle
There are five guidelines are most effective in preventing diabetes. Among them is to have a healthy diet, including eating lots of fruits and vegetables, exercising three times a week for at least 20 minutes, maintaining normal weight (BMI between 18.5 and 24.9), abstain from smoking, and reducing alcohol consumption, as quoted from FoxNews.
But the scientists say that the single factor most effective way to prevent diabetes is to maintain a normal body weight. Men with normal weight 70 percent less likely to develop diabetes than men who are overweight or obese, while in women who had normal weight, 78 percent less likely to develop diabetes.
Prevention can be done by adopting five simple steps earlier. Even overweight people who adopt only one of the factors other healthy lifestyle, such as exercising three times a week, they can reduce the risk of diabetes.
