Studies conducted in this project NUTRIMENTHE aims to examine diet, maternal and child health and their cognitive abilities, under the coordination of Cristina Campoy Folgoso, professor of pediatrics at the University of Granada Spain.
Scientists analyze blood samples at 2,000 women aged 20 weeks. When the baby is born, the concentration of long chain fatty acids than omega-3 series and omega-6 in navel was also examined.
The result, the umbilical cord of children of mothers who eat fish regularly have long-chain omega-3 fatty acids more than the mothers with babies with rare fish intake.
