There are just some things that have been proven to help reduce suffering when cold, ie eating chicken soup, vitamin C and zinc lozenges (not sniff because it can cause permanent damage to the olfactory senses).
Here’s things to help reduce suffering when cold, as Dr. Mehmet C. Oz, MD, said in his book, Being Healthy Teens.
Things to help reduce suffering when cold:
Consume 2-3 grams of vitamin C as soon as you experience a runny nose, then 1-2 grams every few hours over the next 36-48 hours. The mechanism is still unknown, but it can fight the infection faster.
If you start after the first 24-36 hours, no effect. This method shortens the duration of colds up to 2-3 days instead of nine days without vitamin C.
Zinc is one of the minerals that are proven to help shorten the duration of colds average.
